Kumasi, July 9, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has advised the citizenry, particularly the youth, to explore opportunities provided through the advancement in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for self-development.

“ICT must become the carrier of an expanded educational system that makes it possible for learners to acquire the skills needed to function in the global economy,” he said.

The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNET) has presented a total of 25 million cedis in dividends for 2015, to the government of Ghana for its share in the company.

The payment was concluded when the company presented a 10 million cedis interim dividend cheque to the Ministry of Finance on Friday.

Kumasi, July 9, GNA - President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday advised the Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI) of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research to partner stakeholders in construction to ensure quality roads and other development projects.

He said the BRRI, which was established years ago at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to facilitate the construction of quality roads and other projects, had the expertise to transform the construction industry and allay the fears of Ghanaians on poor road works.

This implies that whilst the CI 75 made explicit instructions for all voters to be verified before voting, which triggered the catch phrase “no verification no vote”, the new document requires all party agents to agree before a voter, who could not be verified, would be allowed to vote.

Tema, July 8, GNA - The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been called upon to urgently check and monitor the production of fish meal by the Pioneer Food Cannery Limited (PFC).

Nii Odametey II, Chief Fisherman of Tema Awudum, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the company's fish meal production was emitting an unbearable stench in the town especially the European Market located near the PFC.

Nii Odametey stated that the stench was so powerful that traders at the market sometimes throw up while buyers have refused to patronize their wares.

Ghana has started a visa-on-arrival scheme at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for all African Union Nationals whose countries do not have a visa-free agreement with the country, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has said in Accra.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has cut power supply to the Accra Sports Stadium as part of a mass disconnection exercise of defaulters in Accra.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Sports Authority, Frederica Mensah-Davies confirmed that power supply to the national stadium was cut on Tuesday.

The Accra Sports Stadium in 2015 owed the ECG bills worth GH¢240,000 and were placed on a payment plan of GH¢24,000 per month to enable them clear the debt.

The Supreme Court yesterday ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to delete the 56,739 names it submitted to the court as the list of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registrants on the electoral roll.

In a unanimous decision read by Mr Justice Sule Gbadegbe, the court further ordered the EC to take all the necessary steps to delete other names of persons who registered with NHIS cards but which were not included in the list it presented to the court.
