President Akufo Addo will leave Accra today for Niger as part of his tour of some West African countries.

While there, the President will hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou, and also meet the Ghanaian community there.

Niger is the latest country the President is travelling to after returning from Liberia and Mali last weekend.

The visits are aimed at deepening Ghana’s bilateral relations and reiterate his administration’s full commitment to the ideals of ECOWAS.
A few weeks ago Akufo-Addo took his African tour to Senegal.

Ghana and Mali have pledged to work towards strengthening the ties of cooperation that exist between them, after the Presidents of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the current state of that relationship.

In a joint communiqué issued at the end of a day’s working visit to Mali by President Akufo-Addo, on Sunday, 28th May, 2017, it was resolved that the two countries reinforce their co-operation in the areas of trade, agriculture, security and the process of West African integration.

The Minority in Parliament says the gruesome murder of a military officer in the Central Region demonstrates the lawlessness the country has been plunged into for the past months.

The Nationla Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs in a statement Tuesday want government to protect the “enviable” democratic record bequeathed to it by the past administration.

Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu condemned the killing of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama by some residents at Diaso on Monday while on his early morning jogging.

Former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings has called for calm and restraint as the security agencies investigate the unfortunate lynching of a serving military officer at Denkyira-Obuasi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the former President expressed his sincere condolences to the wife, family and the unit of the late Captain Maxwell Mahama for their unfortunate loss.

“Your loss is a loss to the whole country. Your husband, son and brother lost his life serving his country.”

The Ghana Armed Forces is urging its troops to remain calm following the gruesome murder of an officer in the Central Region.

It said it was working to bring justice to the deceased and those affected by his murder.

Captain Maxwell Mahama of the 5th Infantry Battalion was lynched and burnt by some angry residents at Diaso, the capital of the Upper West Denkyira District on Monday.

The Armed Forces in a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations, Colonel Aggrey-Quarshie, said it has commenced investigations into the murder.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has submitted to Parliament a list of 19 Ministers who will make up his Cabinet Tuesday.

The President’s action is in fulfilment of Article 76(1) of the 1992 Constitution which enjoins him to select some Ministers to form his Cabinet.

The Article states that, “There shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the President, the Vice President and not less than ten and not more than nineteen Ministers of State.”

It did not state which Ministerial portfolio should be included in the Cabinet of any government.

The ‘$2.25bn’ Templeton bond saga is a classic example of ‘PR motivated by political spin’ gone bad. I am a strong believer in institutional policy making and cringe when politicians seek to overwhelm the technical space of public relations.

The art of PR makes one minded that your public is not restricted to your customers but include competition and other stakeholders.

Needless to say, politicians ought to be reminded that their public involves more than the electoral public. Focus on sharing facts and cut the political spin.

Ghana and Sierra Leone have agreed to ratify the agreement for cooperation between the two countries, so as to provide the legal framework for addressing their trade and investment concerns.

Despite the good relations that exist between the two countries, there is no framework for cooperation to guide these relations
This development has hampered the deepening of bilateral ties and cooperation amongst the two countries.
