Operators of the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) offshore oilfields are in discussions with government to fast-track export of gas for electricity generation ahead of schedule.

The discussions are progressing smoothly and TEN partners are hopeful that work would be expedited to ensure that wet gas in delivered to the gas processing plant at Atuabo ahead of schedule, Mr Charles Darku, Managing Director of Tullow Ghana, has said.

The flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party, (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has indicated that, the 2016 general election will be his last attempt at the presidency.

Dr. Nduom said he has done all he can over the course of his presidential bids and November will be his last attempt.

In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show, the PPP flagbearer stated that, “This is the last opportunity for Ghanaians to recognize the person who can do the job. If this one passes by, I have done what I can. The rest is up to Ghanaians.”

Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has been cleared by the Supreme Court to hold herself out as the parliamentary nominee of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcoming general elections.

The Supreme Court also directed the High Court to deliver a ruling in that regard because an individual can only be a candidate after the Electoral Commission (EC) has opened the opportunity for filing. The apex court, therefore, said since the EC was yet to take that action, the argument of Dr Rawlings not being eligible did not hold water.

President John Dramani Mahama has retorted his critics who downplay his social intervention projects, which they say do not bring food to the table.

The commonly criticised project has been road construction, which has incidentally been a trump card of the government.

Reacting to this criticism that ‘we don’t eat roads’, the President in an interview with Radio Savannah on Thursday in the Northern Region, pointed out to the contrary that roads are literally food that can be eaten.

Accra, July 12, GNA - Political actors and stakeholders on Monday conveyed varied opinions on the proposed date for this year’s general election, questioning the Electoral Commission’s (EC) readiness to conduct the polls.

Though majority of them agreed to the new set day of November 7, they were worried that the EC does not have enough time and might to get the necessary funding to undertake the processes, leading to the elections, considering its nearness.

Kumasi, July 12, GNA – The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Kojo Bonsu, has announced his resignation.

This comes amid strained relations between him and the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC).

Mr Bonsu, in a signed statement, said he had communicated his decision to the President.

He thanked President John Dramani Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve his country.

He also expressed appreciation to the Asantehene, the KTC, staff of the Assembly and the people for their support and cooperation.

The Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) for June, declined marginally to 18.4% from 18.9% in May 2016

The monthly change rate was 1.3% in June 2016 compared to 1.1% recorded in May this year. According to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), food inflation went up to 8.6% in June compared to 8.5% in May 2016.

The non food inflation rate however declined from 25 to 24.1 percent between the one month period.

Meanwhile, the inflation rate for imported items increased to 27.1% in June, from the 18.5 percent recorded in May 2016.
