President Nana Akufo-Addo has condemned the Manchester Arena terror attack describing it as "despicable and cowardly acts."

He expressed shock at the attack which left 22 people dead including an eight-year-old girl and injuring over 59 people at Manchester Arena, at the end of a concert by US singer Ariana Grande..

The President tweeted Tuesday saying, “Shocked and saddened by yesterday’s terror attack in Manchester, resulting in the deaths of 22 people and injuries to 59. . .

The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu has accused some personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces High command of providing cover for galamsey operators in hard-hit areas.

He alleged the said military command has without authorization, deployed personnel to protect galamsey operators in parts of the Ashanti region where his team is touring.

In an interview with Citi News, John Peter Amewu called for an immediate probe into the matter.

Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul has ordered the Chief of Defence Staff to immediately launch investigations into reports that some military officers are providing security for illegal miners.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin, has described President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s visit to Senegal, Guinea and Cape Verde as productive.

He said the visit would not only inure to the economic and bilateral benefit of Ghana but also strengthen the resolve for the attainment of the goals of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Guinea joined Ghana in the semi-finals of the Under 17 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon after a 0-0 draw between both sides in their final match of Group A in Libreville.
