Mahama commissions FPSO Atta Mills today

President John Mahama this morning commission the FPSO Professor John Evans Atta Mills to commence oil production from the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme known as the TEIN fields.

The Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme is expected to produce between 20,000-23,000 barrels of oil per day.

The TEIN project which is a joint venture led by Tullow Oil, Kosmos Energy, Anadarko Petroleum corporation, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and Petrol SA will add to the approximately 80,000 barrels of oil per day being produced by the Jubilee fields, and an average of 30 million standard cubic feet of gas per day over the next five years. The production is expected to reach 100million standard cubic feet of gas per day by 2032.

With additional gas coming on stream, government hopes to meet its target of achieving 80% of her thermal gas being gas-based generation for fuel security.

Tullow Oil is optimistic production from TEIN will increase production and oil revenue.

Meanwhile, a statement from Tullow Oil said: "Tullow Oil plc is pleased to announce that first oil has flowed from the Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme (TEN) fields offshore Ghana, to the FPSO Prof. John Evans Atta Mills. First oil has been reached on time and on budget three years after the Plan of Development was approved by the Government of Ghana in May 2013.

"The TEN start-up process is now well advanced and Tullow expects oil production to ramp-up gradually towards the FPSO capacity of 80,000 bopd through the remainder of 2016. Tullow estimates that TEN average annualised production in 2016 will be approximately 23,000 bopd gross (net: 11,000 bopd)."

Tullow is the operator of the TEN fields and holds a 47.175% stake. Tullow’s joint venture partners are Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (17%), Kosmos Energy (17%), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (15%) and PetroSA (3.875%).
